All-State
All members of the Leon High School Band are encouraged to audition for the appropriate All-State Band or orchestra.
The audition requirements are on the FBA Web Page, and you may purchase the etude books at local music stores like Beethoven and Company or Music Masters.
**Please note that if you are interested in auditioning for the All-State Jazz Band, you must also audition for the 11-12th grade Symphonic Band.
This page is full of things that will help with your all-state audition. It is not meant as a replacement for help from your director and your private teacher. Be sure to sign up regularly for help from your director, and take lessons with your private teacher at least once a week.
Record Yourself!
You are your most critical ajudicator--recording your audition and then listening to it is one of the best ways to realize what you need to focus your practice time on. If you don't have a tape recorder or mini-disc recorder, you can record directly to your computer using a free program called Audacity. Download Audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge.net.
