Ann Grosmaire: 2009 Thespian of the YearAnn Grosmaire: 2009 Thespian of the Year

As you may know, our beloved 2008-09 past Vice-President and current Thespian Of The Year, Ann Grosmaire, passed away on Good Friday (April 2nd) of 2010. Anyone who knew Ann knew the beautiful gift she was to this world, and everyone who was blessed to know her as a Leon Lion and a Leon Thespian will truly miss her... Ann was committed to all aspects of theater, and she enjoyed being a featured cast member in her final production at Leon. Her record of accomplishment during her years as a Leon Thespian was stellar. Her spirit is everywhere (we feel it everyday) and the light she shed on us still burns bright.

Ann was always willing to help and get the job done. She had a special love of working behind the scenes, whether directing, set construction, run crews, or other technical aspects, and was instrumental in the success and growth of Leon’s Dramatic Arts program. All of us benefited from Ann’s amazing work ethic. She was tireless in her efforts and volunteered to lend a hand whenever needed.

We want to honor Ann’s commitment to our program and those who are like minded and possess her same sterling attributes. Our plan is to create The Ann Grosmaire Theater and Dramatic Arts Scholarship here at Leon High School. With the support of our principal, Mr. Rocky Hanna and Ann’s parents, Andy and Kate Grosmiare, The Leon High School Foundation has agreed to facilitate the housing of this scholarship. Our plan is for this to be an annual scholarship given to an outstanding senior candidate in the amount of $750.00 towards the higher educational institution of their choice. We will begin distribution of this scholarship this year.

You may remit your check in person to Ms. Freida Linder (the bookkeeper at Leon High School) or you may mail it to The Leon High School Foundation c/o Leon High School 550 E. Tennessee Street 32308 .Please notate your check ANN GROSMAIRE DRAMA SCHOLARSHIP. This is very important. You may also secure your donation online below using any major credit card or checking account. We will accept applications and choose the winner by May 17th.

I know that Ann would be more than pleased with the opportunity to honor a theater student by helping them complete their studies and making their own important contributions towards making our world a better place through this art form. I hope that you will join us in honoring Ann in a way that would be so gratifying to her.
