A versatile performer and educator, William Sahely holds a Bachelor of Music Education and Masters in Arts Administration degree from Florida State University. In 2014, William began his music education career teaching general music, guitar, and band at the School of Arts and Sciences in Tallahassee. In 2017, William became the Director of Steelbands at Raa Middle School, where he led Raa Steel for 9 years and was highlighted by a 2025 FMEA President’s Concert performance. In 2026, William became the Director of Steelbands at Leon High School. One of the nation’s oldest curricular steelbands, Leon’s Lion Steel is made up of beginning, intermediate, advanced, and honors ensembles. William is also the Director of Steelbands at Thomas University, as well as the recurring instructor for the FSU Summer MME Steelband elective course. A native of Trinidad and Tobago, William is proud to spend his days educating his community and students about Trinidadian culture and the steel pan art form.
